Empire Racing Extends Collection for Hurricane Sandy Relief Until November 21

(Mooresville, NC) November 8, 2012 Empire Racing is extending its collection time for gathering donations to coincide with the sister relief effort being run by Nick Ramey of Roush-Yates Engines. In the wake of the devastation left behind by Hurricane Sandy and the Nor’Easter Athena, Empire Racing is collecting supplies to send to the New York Metro area to help with recovery efforts. Empire Racing driver Sean Corr will be leaving on Saturday with a delivery and Empire will be making multiple deliveries in the next month.
Empire Racing and driver Sean Corr have relationships with many charities in the NY area. They plan to use these ties to distribute the donated supplies to those in need. Some of the items that are being requested include:

Clean clothing Coats/Hats/Gloves
Baby food/care items
Cleaning supplies
Canned goods
Non perishable food
Pet foods
Garbage bags
Blankets
Personal hygiene items
Flashlights/batteries

Donations from the community have been coming in, and the outpouring of support is humbling, according to Empire Racing Team Manager John Bellesfield . “Many of our racing family hail from the Northeast, and with the amount of damages that the New York Metro region has suffered, we here at Empire Racing felt it was our duty to do something to help out. We have been accepting donations here at our Mooresville shop and at the Roush-Yates Performance Parts Store. Already we are filling our conference room with donations, things that will make a difference to those affected by the dual storm systems that have hit the area. Every little bit helps, and we are touched by all the donations that we have received so far. Anything that you can afford to donate will be appreciated by those in need” explained Bellesfield.

Donations can be dropped off prior to the November 21st trailer departure at the Empire Racing Shop at 304 Performance Road, Mooresville, NC or at the Roush-Yates Performance Parts Store located at 122 Knob Hill Road, Mooresville, NC. Arrangements for pickup of donated items can be made by contacting John Bellesfield at 704.914.7110. For those who would like to help with recovery efforts but are not in the area, donations can be made The Salvation Army (www.salvationarmyusa.org) or The Red Cross (www.redcross.org) to help those affected by Hurricane Sandy and Athena.
