Corr Joined Wallace and Long in the Kitchen at Homestead Fundraiser
(MIAMI, FL) November 15, 2012 Sean Corr joined fellow NASCAR drivers Kenny Wallace and Johanna Long in a driver cooking competition hosted by celebrity chef Adrianne Calvo last night at the Championship Taste event hosted by the NASCAR Foundation to raise money for the Homestead Speediatrics unit. All 3 drivers were also on stage to help present the check from the NASCAR Foundation to Homestead Hospital.
During the competition Calvo offered coaching to the drivers. She had specifically chosen a recipe that would be forgiving to kitchen novices. This was a good thing, as each admitted that they had little experience cooking, Sean adding that “My cooking usually sets off the smoke detectors”.
Each driver was given the same ingredients and a recipe for chicken and broccoli stir fry. Sean, Kenny, and Johanna were cheered on by fans, who surrounded the cooking set and offered tips. Kenny took an early lead, adding in all the ingredients at once. Johanna was the first to finish the recipe, and Sean’s stir fry was finished without a fiery incident. The final product was sampled by Miss Sprint Cup and each driver. In the end, Johanna Long won the competition by unanimous decision.
Sean is in town to race in Friday’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season finale Ford EcoBoost 200 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Corr will be driving the #82 Warriors In The Workplace/Roush-Yates Ford F-150. “We are working with Warriors In The Workplace this week. It is a new nonprofit organization that is working to get our unemployed Gulf War II era veterans jobs in the civilian sector. We at Empire Racing are dedicated to this cause and to getting the word out about this program. Helping our heroes get back to work is the least we can do in thanks for their service” explained Corr.
The mission of Warriors In The Workplace is to help restore, empower, and renew hope for our U.S. Military Veterans as they look to transition from a military career to a rewarding and sustaining career within the civilian sector, based upon the skills they have learned and perfected throughout their tenure in the military.
