Homestead A Learning Experience for Sean Corr

(Goshen, NY) November 21, 2012 Homestead did not go exactly as planned for rookie driver, Sean Corr. In only his second attempt in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, Sean came to Homestead with hopes of racing in the season finale Ford EcoBoost 200 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. With 39 drivers entered, and only 36 spots available, three drivers would be left off the starting grid. Unfortunately, Sean and Empire Racing’s #82 Warrior In The Workplace Ford F-150 was one of them.

“I am really disappointed that we weren’t able to finish off the season on the track. I was looking forward to getting the word out about Warriors In The Workplace, a non profit that Empire Racing supports, and their mission to help find returning heroes jobs in the civilian sector” said Corr.

Corr’s crew members were supportive of his efforts with the #82 Ford F-150. “Sean did a great job. This was a good learning experience for him, we got about 60 laps on the track during practice. He picked up a lot of time during practice, he really did well. Now we will work on getting him more seat time before we head to Daytona, a track where he took the pole at the ARCA Racing season opener this year” commented Empire Racing crew chief, Ben Leslie.

Corr’s spotter, Timmy McKichan further explained “ Sean came to a new track and had to get used to a whole new tire compound and aerodynamic package. The ARCA Racing Series uses Hoosier tires, which are a softer compound than the NCWTS Goodyear tires. Most folks don’t realize just how different racing a truck is from racing cars. There are a lot of adjustments that you have to make to your driving style to compensate for the different aerodynamic design of the truck”.

John Bellesfield, Team Manager for Empire Racing, added “We are proud of Sean and his efforts in Homestead. He put down about 60 laps, which gave Sean some really valuable seat time. He continued to improve his times throughout practice. Now we will head back and focus our efforts on prepping our Daytona truck for February, a track where Sean has done really well”.

The mission of Warriors In The Workplace is to help restore, empower, and renew hope for our U.S. Military Veterans as they look to transition from a military career to a rewarding and sustaining career within the civilian sector, based upon the skills they have learned and perfected throughout their tenure in the military.
