Empire Racing Leaves Daytona Focused on Mobile

(DAYTONA BEACH, FL – FEB 19, 2012) After qualifying on the pole for the ARCA Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at Daytona International Speedway, Sean Corr’s day started like many others at the track -- focus on what the goal was for the day: start up front and stay there. At the drop of the green flag, Corr led the field for 23 laps before pitting early for a fuel only stop.

After pit stop circulation, Corr restarted in the 24 spot. In just a few laps, he drove his way back into the top 15 with a fast car. It was only a matter of time before Sean was going to be back out front. But heading down the front stretch, he radioed to Crew Chief Ben Leslie that the motor cut out on the back stretch after switching ignition boxes. It was still there again at full throttle and the water temperature was rising. Corr tried pulling out of line to catch some cooler air but then started losing oil pressure. The day ended with an engine problem.

“This is the first time in two years that we’ve had an engine issue, so I can’t really complain about that”, Corr stated. “Some things you just can’t much about. Roush-Yates Engines gave us the power to sit on the pole and be very competitive, and I really have nothing bad to say about that,” said Corr. This was the first Pole Award in 11 Years for Roush-Yates Engines at Daytona International Speedway.

“We made tremendous strides in the off season,” said Corr. “The cars are prepared for the year and we are heading to Mobile to test in a few short weeks. And we also have some exciting news in the next few days about Empire Racing, so stay tuned.”

“We would like to thank all of our marketing partners that came along for the ride this week,” said Sean, “and we are currently looking for marketing partners to join Empire Racing for the remainder of the season.”
