Empire Racing Saluting Pennsylvania Fallen Hero
MOORESVILLE, NC (6/5/12) Empire Racing LLC and American Heroes Racing will once again pay tribute to a special Fallen American Hero, Lance Corporal Joshua Klinger, of Easton, Pennsylvania. Klinger died on June 14, 2005 as a result of an explosion from an improvised explosive device while conducting combat operations against enemy forces near Fallujah, Iraq. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
To honor LCpl Klinger, we will be carrying a “hero shot” photograph of LCpl Klinger on the hood of the Ford Fusion Empire Racing LLC #82 ARCA entry that is driven by Sean Corr. “Empire Racing started this tribute campaign along with American Heroes Racing at Talladega,” said Corr. “We are honored that Joshua’s family is letting us pay tribute to an American Hero.”
Nick Igdalsky and Pocono Raceway will be hosting LCpl Klinger’s family for the weekend. “We can’t thank Nick enough for supporting a local military hero,” said Empire Racing Team Manager, John Bellesfield. “LCpl Klinger and I are from the same hometown of Easton, Pennsylvania, and this is just another way of recognizing our Military and the sacrifices they make each and every day.”
Empire Racing LLC and American Heroes Racing will host members of LCpl Klinger’s family as honorary pit crew members for the ARCA Pocono 200. Upon the conclusion of the race, Klinger’s family will be presented with a hood replica of the #82 Ford Fusion. The hood will be signed by drivers, crew members, military members, and other dignitaries that will be present at the Pocono 200.
