Corr, Empire Racing, and Motorsports Industry Help Make Local Fundraiser a Success

(GOSHEN,NY) September 19, 2012 In this unsettled world, it is heartening to know that so many are willing to donate their time and efforts to honor a fallen hero. Sean Corr continued his dedication to help honor fallen soldiers off the track, joining with the Walton (NY) Booster Club to honor Walton’s own Marine SGT Adam Munn on September 15th. Corr and Empire Racing honored SGT. Adam C. Munn, donating a racecar hood emblazoned with a portrait of Adam. The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver, along with Empire Racing, brought their #82 ARCA show car to the event. Adam’s family brought his ’54 Chevy, his pride and joy, to the event to honor his memory as well.

Munn, a member of the Marine Corps, served 2 tours in Iraq and one tour in Afghanistan and was awarded The Purple Heart. He was an active member of the VFW and an avid supporter of the Marine’s Toys for Tots program. Adam was passionate about helping the youth in his community, and especially the Walton Football program.

Several NASCAR teams, upon hearing of the event, sent up sheet metal for the silent auction. Pieces from Roush-Fenway, Michael Waltrip Racing, Earnhardt-Ganassi, and Empire Racing were donated, including autographed metal from Carl Edwards, Clint Bowyer, Juan Pablo Montoya, Sean Corr, and Michael Waltrip. Through their generosity and that of the people of Walton, NY and surrounding areas, the booster club was able to raise $10,000 to buy football helmets and gear for the community’s youth.

Scheduled for a special appearance, Sean Corr stayed the entire day, even making his way into the dunking booth, promoting it as “Dunk the NASCAR Driver” to engender more donations. “We had a great turnout today, there were so many people here who knew and loved Adam. I am proud to be a part of honoring his memory” said Sean.

The event was a great success according to Cortnie Russell of Danny’s Restaurant, “We are so pleased, this was so much more than we expected. We hoped to raise $6000 to buy 100 new football helmets. Thank you to Sean and Empire Racing for all that they have done to make this fundraiser a success! Thank you to the NASCAR teams that donated to our event! And thank you to the Walton community, one of the great things about Walton is that we all pull together. It is such a great community and we appreciate everyone who came out to support the event! It was a great day for us, and I am so happy that we are able to do this and honor Adam’s memory”.

Corr’s next scheduled races are the Phoenix 150 in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series at Phoenix International Raceway on Friday November 9th, followed by the season finale Ford 200 at Homestead Miami on Friday November 15th.
